In this scene, Stephanie rushes into a cafe in the hopes of using their bathroom after having a horrible day.  She’s sweaty, she’s tired, she’s scared, but most importantly, she’s gotta poop.  This piece is loosely based on true events-- inspired by my very first day in Brooklyn, trying to find an apartment while running around in 90 degree weather. While this scene is comedic, I think it speaks to greater themes of isolation and fear.  It’s about how the micro makes the macro; how the tiny things that happen to a person build over a period of time, and if we don’t take the time we need to nurture ourselves, we’ll implode.  Also, it speaks to having to poop while running errands, which is the worst.

Celenia is an aspiring comedy writer currently receiving her MFA in TV Writing and Production.  She also holds a Bachelor’s in English with a minor in Film Studies from FSU. Her comedic pieces have been published on various sites such as, Points in Case, The Belladonna, Little Old Lady, and Funny-ish and she competed in the 90 Second Pitch competition hosted by Stareable Festival.  In 2019, she successfully raised money through a Seed and Spark crowdfunding campaign and was awarded a Visibility Grant to continue writing and producing her web series Rosalie -- a show about a 30 year old woman who finally comes out as a lesbian and begins dating for the very first time in her life. Celenia enjoys romantic walks on the sidewalk, not the beach.  The beach is actually the worst and no one talks about it. Your hair dries out from all the saltwater, your throat hurts from swallowing all the saltwater, a sunburn lasts at least a week, and you get sand up your butt. No thanks!
