Todd Dakotah Briscoe graduated in 2007 from NYU: Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama. While studying at NYU he was cast in a musical as a Hassidic Exorcist. He’s obviously been-type cast ever since.
A resident of Brooklyn for 9 years, Todd has been actively involved for 3 years as a writer, performer and producer of Political Subversities, a weekly live musical-sketch show that features brand new material every week satirizing current events. Political Subversities has been featured on Gawker, Huffington Post, Bust Magazine and Todd represented the group several times on MSNBC. One time Reverend Al Sharpton called Todd a “turkey” on a special Thanksgiving Episode. The group has also sold out shows at Ars Nova, 92Y, Joe’s Pub in addition to its weekly shows at The People’s Improv Theater. In 2011 it was an official finalist selection of the Friar’s Club Comedy competition.
Additionally, Todd has written material for MoveOn.org, Naked Angels and MSNBC and he performs with various improv teams at theaters around the city including Musical Improv with “The Boombox Kids.”
In his years as an actor Todd realized that he preferred creating his own original material. He has worked on many spec scripts and original pilots with a variety of collaborators. Todd’s favorite place is in a writer’s room and he has been diligently working to expand his skills as a television writer to make this a career. He looks forward to meeting colleagues with a similar determination. He’s especially interested in telling stories about characters from diverse backgrounds and stories with positive portrayals of the LGBT community.
