Alea Rahim hails from Malaysia, famed for its iconic twin towers that was a backdrop to the eight-billion-dollar heist in “Entrapment” and fictionally led by a Chinese Prime Minister in the comedy, “Zoolander”. Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, she set out to New York in the Spring of 2008 with a full academic scholarship from ASTRO, All Asia Broadcasting Network, to prove that there was more to Malaysia than those two movies had to offer… And also to pursue her passion in writing. Throughout her four years in LIU Post, Alea sharpened her talents not only as a journalist, but as a web designer, videographer, layout editor, international student leader and a varsity tennis player. Her recent internship with the Station Media gave her ample opportunities to be involved in shoots for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). She is currently a freelance graphic designer while trying her hand at producing, directing and profusely submitting entries to local film competitions. A Masters in this unique program, coupled with a degree in Journalism, and her New York City filming experience would certainly put in good stead this aspiring writer-producer’s career in the fast changing Broadcasting industry in Asia.
